Parents, Guardians, and Families,
Welcome! I am Erin Dorsey, principal at Blue Hills Elementary. At Blue Hills we work diligently to maintain a positive, safe and engaging learning environment for all students, staff and families. We view students as individuals and have created an inclusive school community making Blue Hills an ideal environment for students to learn and grow.
My greatest priority as building principal is to ensure that all our students feel a sense of belonging and have equal access to high-quality, rigorous instruction each day. At Blue Hills Elementary we focus on developing our students’ vocabulary across all content areas and prioritize problem solving and critical thinking in order to prepare our students for school and for life beyond school. Our goal is to help students connect skills and concepts between content areas to support them in applying their knowledge to the world around them.

- Volunteering: Check out the Volunteering page (p.14) of the Blue Hills Family Information Guide for more information on ways to volunteer.
- Background Checks: Any adult wishing to volunteer or participate in school-day events where they will have an active role in helping supervise students, with Fort Osage Staff Members present, is required to have a cleared background check on file with the Fort Osage School District. Please contact the Blue Hills front office at (816)650-7440 to find out how to complete a background check.
