Dear Fort Osage Retiree,
On behalf of the Fort Osage Retired Employees Association (FOREA), welcome to another year of friendship, service, and staying connected with the Fort Osage family.
First and foremost, thank you. The classrooms you taught in, the buses you drove, the meals you served, the buildings you cared for, and the countless ways you supported students have left a lasting impact on generations of Fort Osage families. Your dedication helped shape our district into what it is today, and we are grateful for everything you have given to our students, staff, and community.
Giving Back Together
One of the exciting additions this year is that we'll be collecting items for local nonprofit organizations during each meeting. There is information below on what we will collect at each meeting so you can plan in advance. We hope you'll join us in supporting organizations that serve our community.
October- undergarments (bras, underwear) for the Bright Futures Fort Osage Care Closet
December- non perishable food items for the local CSL food pantries in the Fort Osage District
February- all things animals (food, toys, etc) for local Independence shelters
May- Hygiene items for the Bright Futures Fort Osage Care Closet and Back to School Bash
We also encourage you to continue sharing your time and talents by volunteering throughout the year. Enclosed is a volunteer hours form that you can use to track your service. Whether you volunteer in our schools, your church, or another community organization, we'd love to celebrate the incredible difference Fort Osage retirees continue to make.
Fort Osage School District offers a number of ways you can volunteer. Look for more information on opportunities in the fall.
FOREA Membership
Membership in FOREA is just $10 per year, and we invite you to join or renew your membership for the coming year.
Every dollar collected through membership dues supports the FOREA Scholarship, which provides financial assistance to Fort Osage High School graduates pursuing higher education with an emphasis on becoming teachers. Investing in future educators is one way we continue the legacy of serving students long after retirement.
If you would like to further support the scholarship, you are also welcome to make an additional tax-deductible donation. Every contribution helps us invest in the next generation of educators.
Please make checks payable to FOREA. The enclosed membership form may be:
- Mailed using the enclosed information,
- Dropped off at the Fort Osage District Office, or
- Brought with you to any FOREA meeting.
We've also enclosed a contact information update form. If your address, phone number, or email has changed, please take a moment to update your information so we can stay connected throughout the year.
Thank you once again for your years of dedication to Fort Osage. Although you've retired from your career, you will always be an important part of the Fort Osage family. We look forward to seeing you throughout the year and continuing the traditions of friendship, service, and support that make FOREA such a special organization.
