Fort Discovery

Welcome to the Fort Discovery school-age program. The Fort Osage School District opened the Before and After School Childcare Program in 1984 at Elm Grove School . The school district now operates five " Fort Discovery " before and after school programs at the elementary level.

It is the goal of this program to provide working parents with the confidence that their student is in a safe and nurturing environment. The program will provide activities that support the ever-changing social, emotional, and physical needs of the student. Activities will include homework time, tutoring, service learning projects, cooperative sports, creative arts, computer utilization, and special interest activities.

Fort Discovery centers are open Monday through Friday from 6:00a.m.until the start of the school day and from the end of the school day until 6:00 p.m. Our programs are open on early dismissal days, as well as all other days that school is dismissed for parent/teacher conferences, staff development, snow days, and most holiday breaks.

Thank you for choosing the Fort Discovery School-age program for your child. We would like to welcome your family into our “Fort Discovery Family”. The Fort Osage School District opened the Before and After School Childcare Program in 1984 at Elm Grove School. The school district now operates five “Fort Discovery” before and after school programs at the elementary level. This parent manual has been prepared for you so you know what to expect from our programs and what Fort Discovery will expect from you. As always, constant communication between the center and the parents will be a priority. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact us.

Snow Days

On days when there is inclement weather, please listen to your local radio or television station. If the district cancels school at or around 6:00 a.m. when the centers have already opened, your child will need to bring a sack lunch since the cafeteria will not operate on those days.

Fort Discovery reserves the right to close in cases of severe or icy weather, especially when the weather service is advising all people to stay at home, as we do not want to risk the safety of our staff, or the families in our programs. Please listen to your local station for this closing. Sign up to receive text messages about possible school and/or Fort Discovery closings!!

SNOW DAYSFORT DISCOVERY will be OPEN at the INDIAN TRAILS LOCATION only on SNOW DAYS for children who are enrolled in the program. Please be sure your child has breakfast and lunch!
