Board of Education Filing 2024

Notice is hereby given that an election will be held in the Fort Osage R-1 School District, County of Jackson, State of Missouri, on Tuesday, April 8, 2025, for the purpose of electing the following: 

 Two (2) – Board of Education Directors -  three year terms 

Candidates must be citizens of the United States, resident taxpayers of the district, shall have resided in this district for one year preceding the election, and must be at least twenty-four years of age. 

Candidates may file in the office of the Secretary to the Fort Osage School District Board of Education, 25102 E. US 24 Hwy, Independence, Missouri, Monday through Friday as outlined below:

Tuesday, December 10, 2024, to Thursday, December 19, 2024, 8:00 am - 4:00 pm;

Friday, December 20, 2024, 8:00 am - 12:00 pm;

Tuesday, December 31, 2024, 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm.

Filing will not occur on:

• the observance of winter break (December 23 - January 3) unless specified above;
• days that the School District Offices are closed due to inclement weather.

Candidates who file on the first day, December 10, 2024, will draw a random number at the time of filing.  The District will record the number drawn and those candidates shall be listed on the ballot in ascending order according to the number drawn and ahead of the names of candidates that file on a later date.

Candidates having filed and desiring to withdraw their candidacy shall appear in person before the Secretary of the Board of Education on or before 5:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 31, 2024, and execute and deliver to the Secretary of the Board of Education a proper withdrawal of such candidacy.
