Annual Survey Results

Thank you to everyone who took the time to complete our recent district student, parent, and staff feedback survey. Your input is an important part of helping us better understand the experiences, perspectives, and priorities of the students, families and staff we serve.

Your feedback plays a meaningful role in our continuous improvement efforts. The Fort Osage School District uses this data to help guide decision-making at both the district and building levels.

We received the following positive feedback from our parents:

90% agree that teachers are approachable and reachable
85% feel staff demonstrate genuine care for students
91% say school offices are friendly and helpful

One area we will continue to focus on is student voice:

78% feel their child’s school assures student voices are heard and respected
-Based on this feedback, we will be reviewing our student voice opportunities both in class and the school as a whole and consider more student voice opportunities (ex. implementing student ambassadors, increasing student choice in class). We will also be reflecting about whether we are explicit when providing student voice opportunities by labeling it as such and then providing the outcome of students' providing their input.

We received the following positive feedback from our students:

87% say they know what they are expected to learn in their classes.
84% say feedback from their teachers helps them improve
85% have the opportunity to get involved

One area we will continue to focus on is student voice:

67% feel their voices are heard and respected in school. We want to hear more from you and will be reaching out to small groups of students representative of our student body to get more information about how we can increase student voice opportunities. If you have suggestions for us, please reach out to Stephanie Smith at ssmith@fortosage.net or 816-650-7019.

We received the following positive feedback from our staff:

100% are committed to seeing our district succeed
89% believe their leaders are approachable/reachable
91% feel they have opportunities to be involved

One area we will continue to focus on is sharing of data:

79% say we provide climate & culture data. In an effort to be more explicit, we are sharing in this format and will be circling back to this information in August as we plan for the school year. We will provide 2 short check ins next school year on our 3 areas of focus to get feedback more frequently from you.
