Back to School 2020-2021

  • Good evening FP Parents!

This email is very lengthy and will provide you with info regarding your situation, be it virtual or hybrid, for the start of school, so please read carefully. The first day of school for all students, virtual or hybrid is Tuesday, September 8, 2020. Virtual students (100% of the time) will be learning from home that day, as they will each day of the week. Monday/Wednesday Hybrid students will be working on assignments at home sent by the homeroom teacher on Tuesday, September 8. Tuesday/Thursday Hybrid students will be attending school in person on Tuesday, September 8. If you have any questions regarding this, please be sure to call the office at 816-650-7158.

Soon you will be receiving information from the district on how to access your student's homeroom teacher through the parent portal or in the mobile app. Also, your student's teacher will be contacting you to set up a "Meet Your Teacher" meeting, which will be conducted through a phone call or Google Meet opportunity. Schedules regarding your student's learning based on your choice of learning (virtual or in-person/hybrid) will be discussed and questions will be answered during those meetings (phone calls or Google Meets).

    Virtual Students/Families at FP

Chromebook checkout occurred earlier this week for 100% virtual students (Monday through Friday). If you did not make it during those scheduled times, please be sure to stop by FP on one of these days/times to check out your student's Chromebook: Monday, August 31 from 8:00 AM-3:00 PM; Tuesday, September 1 from 8:00 AM-5:00 PM; and both Wednesday & Thursday, September 2-3 from 8:00 AM-3:00 PM. In order to checkout the Chromebook, the district AUP (permission to use district technology and programs/software) AND the insurance fee of $25 must be paid. This can be completed by clicking on this link: https://permission.click/MNba3/us A Chromebook cannot be checked out until this is completed. Your student will need his/her Chromebook for the first day of virtual learning - Tuesday, September 8. Also, there is a Virtual Learning Home Kit that is being handed out with Chromebooks, so if your student is using their own device, you still need to come up and pick up a kit. If using your own device, you also must complete the district AUP in order to access Google Classroom and other software programs that will be used since they are the property of FOSD. The link to do so is above.

I know this email is very lengthy. I apologize for this, but I sure do appreciate our parents working with us and being patient as we have worked through some very uncharted territory. As a principal for over 20 years, this is something I have never come close to experiencing and it will definitely go down in my history book! Looking forward to working with your students this year, and definitely looking forward to seeing them soon be it in-person/hybrid or virtually! Please do not hesitate to reach out to your teachers, counselors, principals, should you have questions. Have a wonderful weekend! Be well, be safe, and be kind!

    Sincerely,

    Dr. B.
