Principal's Message

Welcome to the 2008-2009 school year at Osage Trail Middle School.  Let me introduce myself.  My name is Nita McLean and I come to this district with 32 years of educational experience.  Twenty-two of those years I have served as a building level principal.  I am dedicated and committed to working with the early adolescent child.

When interviewing for the principal position at Osage Trail Middle School I discovered a staff that had a true passion for working with 7th and 8th grade students.  I am very proud to be the principal at Osage Trail and I am looking forward to working with the staff, students, parents and community of the Ft. Osage District.

I am excited to introduce the new assistant principal John Schuler.  Mr. Schuler was previously the art instructor at Osage Trail and has been in the district for 21 years.

The focus of Osage Trail is to provide a quality education to all students.  The Osage

Trail Staff is committed to providing an education that meets the needs of the young adolescent.

These needs include:

  • Opportunities for self-exploration and self-definition
  • High expectations for all students
  • Meaningful participation in school and the community
  • Positive social interaction with peers and adults
  • Physical activities
  • Academic achievement and success
  • Structure and clear limits

As a result of this middle school experience we hope that each student will have a successful transition from the middle school to the high school with maximum success.

To have a successful experience at the middle school level it is important that the parents become partners with the school and become involved in your child’s education.  I realize that your child will only be at Osage Trail for two years; however, those two years are very difficult years.  The child experiences physical changes as well as psychological changes during that time.  Together we can make these difficult years successful ones.

It is important to maintain strong communication between school and home.  Please remain active with your middle school child.  I encourage you to keep in touch with your child’s teachers and develop a strong working relationship with them.

Remember my door is always open.  I again welcome you to Osage Trail Middle School and invite you to become involved in your child’s school.  Osage Trail Middle School is a Great Place to Learn.

- Nita McLean, Principal
