Principal's Message

Welcome to Elm Grove Elementary School. It is our mission to provide a positive learning environment in partnership with families and community that guides all students toward being productive learners in our global society. We believe that the school, home and community share responsibility with all students in their development of a lifetime love of learning and the ability to acquire the knowledge, skills and character traits which allow them to leave school able to: Read, Write, Communicate, Problem solve, Apply mathematical concepts, Use current technology, Appreciate the Arts, and Behave in a socially acceptable way.

We hold high expectations for success and achievement for all our children and do our best every day to help the children succeed. Our elementary building has approximately 475 students in Kindergarten through 4th grade. Support services are offered in the areas of Learning Disabilities, Speech, Counseling, Music, Art, PE, Library, Computer Lab, before and after school child care, and two district special education programs.

An additional resource to support our goals is 'Open Library' (Thursday evenings for our families) to utilize the Library. Parents are invited to attend various 'curriculum' nights throughout the school year to accentuate material students are covering. In addition, parents receive most every week a newsletter from their grade level about studies affecting their child.

Each child (in grades 1-4) has an Agenda planner that helps explain student information, organize, prioritize, assists as a teaching aide, and provides teachers and parents a valuable link daily. Students are recognized for their performance on academic, social, and attendance areas. Besides receiving instruction in academic areas they also practice safety strategies for emergencies like fire, tornado, and building intruders.

Parents are encouraged to become involved in our school. One of these ways is through PTA, which offers many opportunities to volunteer your time. If questions arise, please contact the school office and we will be happy to assist you.
