Principal's Message

Welcome to Blue Hills! This year we anticipate approximately 385 students in grades K-4. Our teaching staff of thirty highly-qualified professionals provides a comprehensive child-centered education that embraces the varied learning abilities of each child in a safe and caring environment. The curriculum in place at each elementary building in the Fort Osage R-1 School District challenges students to foster confidence in their abilities, enthusiasm about their possibilities, and an eagerness to engage life as contributing members of society. Students have regular opportunities to demonstrate their understanding of key concepts during guided learning and on both formative and common assessments. Student progress is readily available to parents or guardians electronically through Parent View or by contacting teachers directly.
Parent involvement is crucial to the success of any school. We encourage parents and guardians to actively partner with the school to create a learning community that fosters the success for all children. Blue Hills provides many opportunities for parents to become involved. Our P.T.A. boasts a membership exceeding two hundred and fifty parents, grandparents, and teachers with a common goal of student success. In addition, Caring Communities, sponsored by LINC (local investment council) offers parent and student programs designed by the local site council. Up-to-date activities are located on the district home page.
Again I want to welcome you to Blue Hills. I look forward to an exciting new year and the opportunity to serve the children and families at the Fort.
Sincerely,
Sandi Rahm
Principal
